The rising tides for WNBA card pricing continued to start the New Year. This was another positive signal that the floor was reached at the end of last year and the run up to the start of the season is beginning.
With some large five figure sales at the top of the board, collector and investor appetite for higher-end WNBA slabs has returned. There were a total of 8 four figure sales in January, up 33% from December.
Private sales continue to be strong on the high end. I was part of several sales (and two buys) in the four figures range in January.
It’s worth noting that the low end of the market, specifically PSA 9 and below ultra modern WNBA cards continue to take a beating.
You will find a few star and low numbered rookie exceptions, but it looks like the rising POP counts are finally causing the market to correct.
Candace Parker is in the Building
In January the 2021 Panini Prizm WNBA Candace Parker Black Gold PSA 10 took the top spot with a whopping sale of $6,900.
To some this may come as a bit of a surprise, given this is one of the top 10 WNBA card sales that have happened in public.
Then again, it’s Candace, a Black Gold, and a PSA 10 of a Prizm. So if you got it, spend it.
Ultra modern sales definitely dominated the list this month, Other WNBA stars Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Diana Taurasi once again appeared throughout the list. A’ja Wilson and Sue Bird also make appearances, with Dearica Hamby showing up for the first time ever.
